One Minute Devotion by Richard Exley

Even as we celebrate the joys of life, there is another part of us that grieves for those who suffer. And it is this spiritual sorrow that is our rite of passage into ministry. Thus it was with Jesus and His experience teaches us that it is not only possible to experience joy and sorrow simultaneously, but that it is mandatory if we are to live as authentic human beings.

"He was...a man of sorrows, and familiar with suffering" (Isaiah 53:3).

Lord Jesus, teach us to live experiencing both joy and sorrow so we can be emotionally present in each ministry encounter. In Your holy name I pray. Amen.

RE: Circle of Prayer Event -
What’s so strange is Obama probably thinks our prayer vigils have to do with the physicals. Like folks showing up, other people of faith seeing them and action results from that element alone. Little does he understand it is THE HOLY SPIRIT moving in answer to our prayers that gets things done. One person praying could move God in the same way as 1000 praying. WE come together to pray because we like to do these things together, not to be noticed! It’s NOT about us, but it is all about obama in his eyes. He’s a poor sad misdirected soul who just doesn’t’ ‘get it’. I hope someday he finds God as He is, not as obama had created him when convenient to obama’s purposes.

    God Bless your work,
    Mary Hackett
