Faith and Action will soon erect this
Christmas nativity scene on our front lawn across the street from the U.S.
Supreme Court. (It was temporarily arranged in the backyard prayer
garden)
Faith and Action has partnered with long-time friend the Reverend Dr. Charles
Nestor and his website, www.thetruthmatters.com, in brining to
Capitol Hill "Operation Nativity," a call to Christians everywhere to use
typical Christmas creche scenes as a way to counteract the secularization of
Christmas.
This Thursday, December 8, a large-scale Nativity Scene
including nearly life-sized images of Mary, Joseph, the Christ Child, three
wisemen bearing gifts and manger animals will be erected on the front lawn of
our Faith and Action ministry center located immediately across the street from
the U.S. Supreme Court.
"We would hope that no one would object to this
very tasteful reminder of the true meaning of the Christmas season," said the
Reverend Rob Schenck, president of Faith and Action and missionary to elected
and appointed officials. "If we do get resistance, we are prepared to legally
defend our Constitutional right o have this display."
The 10-piece
display will be unveiled at a special news conference this Thursday, December 8.
A large two-story banner bearing the words of Isaiah 9:6-7 will also be unfurled
on the same day.
Each of the nine Supreme Court justices are expected to
see the two vivid Christmas displays as they arrive and leave the High Court
each day because they pass by Faith and Action's headquarters in order to enter
and exit a high security underground parking ramp.
