Frequently Asked Questions About Faith and Action

A number of essential values represent the core beliefs supporting the ministry of Faith and Action.

These include:

SANCTITY OF LIFE:  God is the creator of life and only He has the authority to determine when life can end.  Science has verified what the Bible has long declared, that the womb shelters a distinct biological being with its identity and destiny determined by God.  Thus, from the moment of conception until natural or God-ordained death, life is designed to be treasured by both individuals and institutions, especially our government. And while the sanctity of unborn life is specifically venerated by the Ten Commandments’ prohibition against murder, in addition we hold that suicide, physician-assisted suicide, and euthanasia are also forbidden by the same prohibition.

PUBLIC EXPRESSION OF RELIGION:  Among the most cherished principles in our nation, the scrupulous expression of religious convictions guided by our conscience stands as one of our founders’ principal legacies.  Assuring that their posterity would enjoy the unmitigated freedom to worship God as they saw fit, America has at its core, principles crafted in the Christian tradition. With the Ten Commandments forming the basic tenets of our free society, our founders warned that without a durable bedrock of Biblical morality, the magnificent system of governance they created would never work.  For in their wisdom they realized, America’s just, moral, and free society depends upon internal governors of behavior, and that the right to publicly articulate our religious values is essential to their preservation.

SAME SEX ATTRACTION:  The Bible is very clear that homosexual behavior violates God’s will and design for his children.  When practiced gratuitously, it develops into an especially severe sin called an abomination, and carries with it compound implications.  It is important to recognize that we all struggle with God’s moral will yet it remains necessary to draw the distinction between someone who suffers with same-sex attraction and someone who dismisses any moral restrictions on that behavior.  The person who seeks to legitimize and look for public affirmation of same-sex attraction needs to be corrected. Thus, our society must speak against behavior which is dangerous to the people who engage in it. We stand against any public policy that approves of such behavior, including same-sex marriage.

SUPPORT FOR ISRAEL:  We are persuaded that our nation’s destiny is enduringly tied to that of Israel, the most spiritually and historically significant realm on the globe.  Factoring in the geo-political complexities of the modern state of Israel with the Biblical realities that reflect God’s heart for this continually embattled nation, we can appreciate the importance of our fidelity to the land and its people.  The Scriptural command to pray for Israel and support their God-given right to both exist as a nation and occupy their land, however, must be balanced with the same mandate to love all men. Accordingly, it is critical to show that as Christians we are not enemies of the other nations in the Middle East and reach out in love to Islamic countries as well.
