Like Peter, we all falter in our faith once in a while. For Peter, one of those falters was when he looked down at the water instead of to the face of Jesus and he almost drowned.
That’s how I feel right now. The turbulent waters under my feet keep tempting me to look down instead of up, but I know that to do so would mean I would sink!
Let me explain: About once a year I travel internationally to represent the gospel of Jesus Christ in far-away places and to help believers—and non-believers—in other countries understand how God is moving at the highest levels of government in Washington, DC. These visits often yield strong alliances—which my team and I need to advance the witness of Jesus Christ in our own “Jerusalem,” as well as in our “Samaria,” and, “to the ends of the earth!” (See Acts 1:8)
But—while I’ve been away, my team has sent a series of detailed reports showing gifts to Faith & Action hitting a historic low. So bad, in fact, that we cannot pay any ministry bills, outreach program expenses—or, worst of all, our team’s very, very hard-earned support so they can meet their family’s needs.
Please pray for an emergency gift—right now—online, so it can reach us immediately. If you feel this burden with me, please make your immediate online gift of $50, $75, $100—or even $250, $500, or $1000! (Even a small gift of $20 or $30 would be a lifesaver to the ongoing outreach of Faith & Action in the Nation’s Capital: $25, $15, or even $5!)
Your generous gift for God’s work on Capitol Hill is desperately needed right now!
My temptation was to cut short what I’m doing overseas—meeting with thousands of world-class leaders and servants from around the world as they wrestle with how to solve some of the most difficult and dangerous problems on earth. Well, I’m their token Bible-believing, born-again, Spirit-baptized believer—this group has never had one in their midst before! I was ready to head for the airport, fly home, and start visiting with every one of our top-level supporters—people like you—and ask, in person, for the largest gift they’ve ever made to this ministry.
Then, I thought, instead of doing God’s work in the vineyard, I’d be raising money for the next few months. That’s not what I’m called to do! I need to continue doing God’s work—or communicating the gospel to those that need to hear it—and not take matters into my own hands.
My team tells me this has been one of the most fruitful times of the year for our ministry outreach.
I WANT MY TEAM TO KEEP DOING WHAT GOD HAS CALLED US TO DO: EVANGELIZE!
But to do so, they’re going to need your extraordinary financial support to get it done! YOU ARE PART OF GOD’S UNIQUE PROVISION FOR THIS WORK!
Please make your best gift possible online now—or call Patty at 202-546-8329. You can also overnight or Priority Mail your gift to Faith and Action, 109 2nd St NE, Washington, DC.
The best way, though, is to give online here.
Thank you for praying with and for us as I continue to trundle out of the boat surrounded by menacing water!
May I hear from you today?
Gratefully yours in Christ our only savior,
Rev. Rob Schenck
