The headlines have been filled with news stories of international Christian persecution – pastors have been thrown into jail; churches burned down, and believers of all backgrounds and ages have faced martyrdom for their faith in Christ.
As Americans, when we hear and read these horrible stories we grieve for our brethren and the fact that religious freedom is non-existent in many countries today. In particular countries, attitudes toward Christianity are extremely hostile and dangerous.
Recently, former Kansas Governor Sam Brownback became the new U.S. Ambassador-at-Large for International Religious Freedom. Our ministry team has known Ambassador Brownback for many years and his Christian faith is strong. I had the privilege of receiving a private invitation to the Swearing-in Ceremony for the Ambassador. The oath was given by Vice President Mike Pence. I had the honor of attending and witnessing this ceremony.
Please pray for Ambassador Brownback as he takes on this important position and please continue to pray for the persecuted church. I think of the scripture in the book of Esther, chapter 4, verse 14, which says, “For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?”
As you know, prayer is important to this ministry. And your prayers are especially important to us. This Thursday is the National Prayer Breakfast – the annual event that features the President, Congressional Members, and other notable leaders. I will be attending the National Prayer Breakfast and do ask that you pray for the event, for our leaders, and for Faith & Action’s ministry outreach around it.
Thank you for being a part of our team and thank you for your prayers and support. You may give to Faith & Action online HERE, or, call in your gift to 202-734-8732. You may also mail it to Faith & Action, 109 2nd St NE, Washington, D.C. 20002.
Please keep praying for our fellow believers who are suffering for their faith throughout the world – and continue praying that we can impact our leaders here in the U.S. with the Gospel!
On Behalf of the Faith & Action Ministry Team,
Mrs. Peggy Nienaber
Vice President of Operations
