John 1:5 states, “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”
As I walked in the fog towards our office on Capitol Hill I stopped to take the picture you see below. At first I thought the whole scene just looked ominous and foreboding. But then I took a closer look. In the midst of the fog and the darkness, the brilliant light of the torch of freedom that sits atop the U.S. Capitol, pierced through the harsh weather.
I thought about that light and it reminded me of the power of the Gospel to pierce the darkness of sin and bring about life and righteousness. And it is this same Gospel that serves as the foundation of Faith & Action. I believe that is why, even in the midst of constant changes in the presidential administrations and Congressional seats, Faith & Action has continued to minister for more than 20 years in Washington, D.C. You might say that when the storms of change and difficulty whip through Capitol Hill, Faith & Action has remained the anchor and safe harbor for our nation’s leaders.
As we embark on a New Year, we are already busy engaging in much needed prayer with our Congressional members and their staff through the Congressional Emergency Prayer Team. And, as we prepare for the National Prayer Breakfast and our continued ministry in the “back room” of the event, we continue to be thankful that the Lord has put us right where we are – in the heart of our nation’s capital.
Will you once again join us on this journey – to faithfully minister the truth and hope of the Gospel to our nation’s leaders in 2018? Your prayers, volunteerism, and financial support help us to be the light and safe harbor for our leaders in the midst of their often stormy job responsibilities and governance. You may give to Faith & Action online HERE, or, call in your gift to 202-734-8732. (You may also mail it to Faith & Action, 109 2nd St NE, Washington, D.C. 20002.)
Thank you for your continued faithful support and prayers. May the Lord do a tremendous work in and through us in 2018!
On Behalf of the Faith & Action Ministry Team,
Mrs. Peggy Nienaber
Vice President of Operations
