It’s been an amazing year!
Faith & Action has diligently shown the love of God to all the leaders we have encountered on Capitol Hill. In fact, we shared the Good News of salvation in Jesus Christ with countless people through our many programs, our one-on-one conversations, and in face-to-face prayer times. By God’s grace, we have planted seeds of faith in Washington, D.C. – the very reason we are here!
We have also proclaimed the message of God’s redemption in very public ways here in the nation’s capital city:
During the annual National Prayer Breakfast, our ministry team prayed for and with prominent national and international dignitaries that attended the breakfast – both as a group and also in private. A small parade of public officials, security personnel and even hotel staff came to our team for personal prayer, to confess a sin, or to seek salvation!
This past spring we read the Bible, God’s Holy Word, from beginning to end, out loud, on the steps of the U.S. Capitol. Hundreds of volunteers from across the nation participated in this year’s 28th Annual U.S. Capitol Bible Reading Marathon.
We assembled a group of pastors on the only National Day of Prayer observance allowed on the plaza at the Supreme Court.
We were selected to coordinate the Congressional Emergency Prayer Team, which went into action immediately after the terrible shooting at the Congressional baseball practice.
We staged a live performance to celebrate the CHRIST-mas season with actors in costume playing Mary, Joseph, and the Baby Jesus, along with live animals—a donkey, two sheep, and two camels. The procession of the holy family around Capitol Hill and in front of the Supreme Court even brought tears to one of our national leaders who said, “It reminded me of the true meaning of Christmas – a reminder that I sorely needed.”
If you haven’t had the chance to make your end-of-year gift to Faith & Action, you can still do so and deduct it from this year’s taxes. Your most generous gift to God’s work in Washington, D.C., will ensure that our top-level government officials continue to hear the truth proclaimed in public and private. Make your tax-deductible gift online here, or by accessing our website (faithandaction.org) or by calling 202-734-8732. (You may also mail it to Faith & Action, 109 2nd St NE, Washington, D.C. 20002.)
