There is no doubt that our volunteer Scripture readers were impacted by this year’s 28th Annual U.S. Capitol Bible Reading Marathon. We are still receiving many comments of just how meaningful it was for them to participate. Consider the following note we received from Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Hankin:
“Reading God’s Word in the heart of our great nation’s capital was not just an experience, but a spiritual blessing for my wife and I that we cannot compare to any other in our walk with our Lord and Savior. Looking out over our beautiful Capitol, while reading the Bible, is a time we will both cherish for years to come. We are looking forward to next year!”
And then there is this wonderful comment from Becky Juett Miller, the author of God’s Lemonade Stand:
“I was so honored to be able to stand at the U.S. Capitol and let the word of God be proclaimed to those who passed. I sensed God’s presence and the Holy Spirit this entire day and at this event.”
Finally, we received this encouraging quote from a dear volunteer who, in the stillness of the yet dark wee hours of the morning, took his place at the podium to read Scripture. Willis McCloud told us:
“The experience of reading the Word at 2am under the stars, while standing on the steps of the U.S. Capitol was humbling. I felt like I was speaking to God on behalf of America.”
Isaiah 55:11 says, “So shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.”
God’s Word, in its entirety, was proclaimed 24 hours a day for 5 days in our nation’s capital during this year’s Bible Reading Marathon, and we know, according to God’s Word, that His purposes will be fulfilled through it!
