“My son, give me your heart, and let your eyes observe my ways.” (Proverbs 23:26)
Young people are invading Capitol Hill with the gospel!
Politicians have a tough time ignoring the younger generation. Youth represent two things: tomorrow’s voters AND the pathway to their parents. In other words, if a politician can be a hero in the eyes of a kid, his or her parent(s) will generally follow suit!
Young people are reservoirs of energy, enthusiasm, compassion, and faith for the impossible. That’s why I love having them around Faith & Action!
Our Faith & Action volunteer interns have arrived at our door, eager to do God’s work on Capitol Hill. While they’re here, they’ll do serious ministry work—not just make copies or organize shelves.
My Vice President of Operations, Mrs. Peggy Nienaber, loves working with these young people even more than I do, and that’s saying a lot. She makes sure that each student intern has a balanced experience between prayer, hard work, and exposure to the highest levels of our direct ministry to top government officials.
It’s not uncommon for our Faith & Action student interns to meet and talk at length with a U.S. senator, Supreme Court Justice, or member of the presidential administration.
Interns will also likely sit in on a congressional hearing, meet an ambassador, and deliver ministry materials to the U.S. Capitol.
Most importantly, our Faith & Action interns will witness first-hand how the gospel is the power of God unto salvation—even here on Capitol Hill.
By the time our interns leave Washington, they will have a vision for their own lives and ministries, and they will be praying about how the Lord may someday use them here. Perhaps, He will even call them to our nation’s capital for permanent ministry to those who work in the government.
One thing I try to impart to these extraordinary up-and-coming leaders is that the solutions to the problems and challenges that face our country can’t all be met with political or policy solutions. There are better answers, and they come from God’s Word. If that’s all our interns learn while they’re here, it will be enough!
Would you pray about helping us with our Intern Training Program? It’s one of the most important things we do in a year: impart a vision for ministry to the hearts and minds of the next generation!
Your monthly pledge gift will keep our internship program humming year-in and year-out. A special one-time gift will also be a big boost!
Please make your tax-deductible gift to keep our internship ministry moving forward. You can make your donation online HERE, or call in your gift (202-546-8329), or mail it the old-fashioned way to Faith and Action, 109 2nd St, NE, Washington, D.C. 20002.
Thank you for investing in the lives of future missionaries to Washington, D.C.!
Yours in prayer for our youth,
Rev. Rob Schenck
