Faith & Action Supports MAAFA 21 Premeir On Capitol Hill
Faith and Action was represented on Capitol Hill for the showing of MAAFA 21, a documentary on the inordinate impact of abortion-on-demand among African-Americans. Maafa is a Swahili word meaning “catastrophe.” The organizers of today’s events, including members of Congress, used the film’s debut as an opportunity to reveal the dramatic cost of abortion to the African-American population. The events surrounding MAAFA 21 were deliberately scheduled on “Juneteenth,” a festival held on June 19th marking the emancipation of slaves in Texas on that day in 1865.
Rev. Rob Schenck, president of Faith and Action and its lead missionary on Capitol Hill said about the MAAFA 21 events, “It was right to reveal this otherwise ignored reality on such a significant day for African-Americans and for the country as a whole. Slavery was America’s first great and murderous sin, and Roe v. Wade was the other. We’re still living with the consequences of both catastrophes. Let’s pray it won’t be much longer before we reverse both of these disasters and heal from the injuries they have caused us all.”
