Faith and Action’s Peggy Nienaber opens conversation with Obama Administration
Peggy Neinaber participated in a roundtable discussion hosted by the Pew Foundation on Thursday. Discussions explored Bush’s Faith-Based and Community Initiative moving forward into the current Government Partnerships with Faith-Organizations. Three panelists, Stephen Goldsmith former Mayor of Indianapolis; Richard Nathan, former Institute Director of White House Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives and Joshua DuBois, special assistant to President Barack Obama and executive director of White House Office of Faith-Based & Neighborhood Partnerships, discussed and answered questions from the audience learning more of President Barack Obama’s approach to continuing service partnerships between the government and religious groups. Discussion surrounded five goals that the administration is striving for:
* Connect Faith-based agencies and make community groups a part of our economic recovery to reduce poverty
* Support Fatherhood and healthily families – pulling groups together to help.
* Women & Girls—establish a common ground of unwanted pregnancies & reducing abortions
* Foster interfaith dialogue with leaders and scholars around the world. What they can do to work together on particular needs.
Faith and Action will continue to reach out to the new administration and find common places of corporation whenever possible.
